The Eurasian Tree Sparrow

Late every afternoon, when the surroundings gradually become clouded in darkness, whether in our backyard, our garden or, indeed, in any place where I am present; I always have the luck to witness the gathering of certain birds, coming to a particular place to spend their night. You won’t fail to notice these birds once they have gathered together, since they are gregarious, especially in a flock, and make a harsh high-pitched chirp-chip call.

                                                                       (Picture is from Picasa)

These are the Eurasian Tree Sparrows. These birds are common not only in The Philippines but also in Europe and the rest of Asia. They are mostly seen in agricultural abodes, rural parks and gardens. These sparrows have a thick black conical bill, which is about six inches long and a nine inch wingspan, mostly appearing in the colors of brown, black, buff, gray, and white.  They are similar to House Sparrows but are never as aggressive as them. This kind of bird is quiet and cautious, and can therefore easily adapt to humans.

I often see these birds nesting in our backyard and I often notice them playing or looking for a food in our garden. So, one time when I saw a number of flocks gathering together in the market, above the wires, I was quite in awe.  It's a  good thing I had my camera with me and was able to take a video of them to share with you. I Hope you will be as amused by it as I was. ^_^ Below is the video...

MATIN - AO Inland Resort

When you are in Davao del Norte and searching for a good place to enjoy or maybe looking for a good venue for whatever occasion, have a look at Matin – Ao Inland Resort. A nice and comfortable resort located in Brgy. New Corilla, Tagum City, well known of natural spring water that flows to its pools which obviously good and safer for you.

The resort is very well done having a beautiful landscape. There are overnight rooms and numbers of clean small cottages. A canteen is also available in case you need something. Their Pools are well maintained and well guarded and is classified into three-> Adult pool, Teen pool and Kids pool.  I  love the kids pool they have nice paintings on the wall and two slides to complete the kids reverie. I think this place is worth visiting for. We did enjoyed the day, indeed a pleasant ramble. ^_^

A Fascination on Forays

A Fascination on Forays

I never thought that I would be interested in traveling. The only thing I had in mind when I was growing up was to help my parents make life better. I don't even dream of being rich; just seeing ourselves not struggling is already a blessing for me.

It was during my high school years that I became fascinated with this. We had to go to a certain place for study purposes. The place was miles and miles away, but my group of about 9 or 10 managed to get there easily just by foot. Arriving at the place was a bit scary, as it is isolated, as no one lives there, and people hardly pass by.

But the feeling changed into a mystic madness after we ran through the woods. All were caught in awe when we perceived the environment's beauty.  The sound of the stream and the chirping birds seem like singing harmoniously, producing a wonderful melody, making the butterflies dance freely above the beautiful flowers in the meadow while swaying smoothly with the breeze, giving the whole place a wonderful unique fragrance. It was a perfect landscape, and for me, it was like a paradise hidden in the middle of the woods, ready to charm its visitors.

It was a place where you could embrace the beauty of nature, where you could enjoy every sound like serenades from every creature, where you could feel the caress of the wind, bringing scents of flowers therein, a place where you could be one with nature in solace and serenity, wherein you can enjoy and admire life more… Then and there, I feel a certain kind of feeling; it is inexplicable how seeing up close and personal the beauty and wonder of nature could cause me this fascination on forays.
